Longchamp is a French leather and luxury goods company founded by Jean Cassegrain in 1948. Longchamp was named after a famous horsetrack in Paris which gave way to the horse logo. Most products are still made in France today with the majority of their leather coming from France, Italy and Uraguay. Longchamp has many products including handbags, wallets, briefcases, diaries, luggage, gloves, belts, scarves, umbrellas and even jewelry. However Longchamp is best known for its lightweight travel goods. In 1993 the "Le Pliage" line, a collection of foldable travel bags made of vinyl and leather trim, was introduced. It is the "Le Pliage" line that increased Longchamp's popularity within the United States and created the devoted following it has today.
